FAQs
-
Who will have access to my profile?
Initially, only you and other Faculty Insight users (The exception is UCR-provided grant data, which will only be viewable by fellow UCR users). Public views will be findable/promoted starting Spring 2025, but you can customize or opt out.
-
How can I customize my profile?
Detailed guides and live training will be available soon. Faculty will have the option to adjust visibility, update achievements, and refine information.
-
Can I opt out?
Yes, faculty members can choose to opt out if they prefer not to display their information publicly. It should be noted, however, that your fellow UCR faculty will be able to view your information.
-
How do I connect with industry partners through the tool?
Industry Insight offers a feature to identify and connect with potential partners based on your research focus.
-
How is this different from UCR Profiles (profiles.ucr.edu)?
UCR Profiles shares some similarities with Academic Analytics’ External Discovery product. A fundamental difference, however, is that, unlike the case of the UCR Profiles, the data will now be searchable by name, area of research, key words, etc. Another difference is the way in which data is collected. Academic Analytics utilizes numerous data sources to curate a comprehensive faculty profile. This means that faculty should no longer have to manually and proactively update their profiles. Instead, faculty will simply need to react to the information collected to ensure their profile accurately and effectively represents them and their work. The project team is currently exploring the integration of Academic Analytics with UCR Profiles.
