Effective Fall 2011, University Education Fee and Fee Remission are the same for resident and nonresident students.

(1) UC Office of the President policy provides for a one hundred percent (100%) reduction in nonresident tuition for eligible doctoral students for the nine quarters following advancement to candidacy. After nine quarters, non-resident doctoral students are subject to full tuition.

* Keep in mind, these are estimates based on currently approved amounts. These figures may not be final. Actual tuition, fees and charges are subject to change by The Regents of the University of California as determined to be necessary or appropriate. Final approved amounts (and a student's final balance due) may differ from the amounts shown. Some or all instruction for all or part of academic year may be delivered remotely. Tuition and mandatory fees have been set regardless of the method of instruction and will not be refunded in the event instruction occurs remotely for any part of the academic year.

** The escalation rates appearing in this column represent pre-pandemic projections and have not been updated. Due to the global uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, projections for the annual rate of inflation in future years is uncertain. (As of July 2021, the annual rate of inflation in the U.S. for 2022 and 2023 was projected to increase by approximately 2.3%).  Each department or college will need to determine how much of an escalation to utilize in the out years.
